Ever tried to engage one of your male patients in a discussion about their mental health? What strategies have worked well for you? Which ones not so well? Have you ever wished that you had some good evidence to help you – and maybe even a treatment manual to help you engage your male patients effectively?
Enter registered psychologist and current PhD student at the University of Sydney Zac Seidler – one of the creators of Man Island, an innovative program looking at the best ways to engage men in effective therapy, with a particular focus on men and depression.
Zac has published several peer-reviewed articles on this important topic, along with several pieces in other media – including The Guardian. He has also made a brief video introducing his project and asking for crowd-funding (below). Thanks to Micayla for showing me this video!
